Bergen County

Bergen County is located in northeast New Jersey. It lies in the Pascack Valley region and is the most populous county in the state of New Jersey. According to recent census estimates, Bergen County had a population of 895,744 residents. Bergen County forms part of the New York Metropolitan Area and its county seat is Hackensack. Bergen is an affluent county and in 2006 it was listed as the 18th in the highest income counties in the US ranking.

Bergen County has a wonderful schools infrastructure, making it an ideal area for families with children. Whereas the average per-pupil expenditure in the US is $6,058, Bergen County schools spend an average of $10,263. This attention and dedication to education is one of many reasons why Bergen County is so popular.

Bergen County is the retail hub of New Jersey and as well as one of the major shopping centers in the New York Metropolitan Area. Some of the largest malls in the state are located in Bergen County. There are so many people in and around Bergen that comes here to shop that the county has adopted blue laws on Sundays in order to reduce the amount of traffic in Bergen.
